On May 23 was held a round table within the framework of the ANO “YAIC” Discussion Club on the topic: “THE RELIGIOUS FACTOR IN MODERN INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS”.

📣 Russian and foreign students, young experts in the field of international relations took part as speakers and listeners.

✔ The participants discussed the role of religion in modern international relations and politics.

📌 These are the main statements following the meeting:

🔹 Religion has a great potential to turn peace into war and vice-versa, even in the age of science and technology.

🔹 If government or a political party tries to appease some or the other religious groups, it destabilizes the very foundation of any secular society and in due course results in religious fundamentalism and retaliation of one community against the other.

🔹 Even in neutral countries, as is the case with Latin nations such as Brazil and Argentina, frequent attacks have taken place against Russian churches since the start of Russia's special military operation.

🔹 Religious beliefs and practices can create a sense of community and shared identity among individuals who may come from different cultures and backgrounds.

🔹 We ought to find solutions to ensure unity and respect of individual right of religious belief.
